Welcome family and friends!

The idea of this site was originally to share the wonderful time we all had at our engagement parties and our wedding with family and friends, as well as to give information to those who made the trip for the wedding about Dominican Republic and Cabrera.

As you all know, events took an unexpected and unwelcome turn in our life together when Craig was suddenly diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor two weeks after our wedding.  He battled with determination, courage and (typical for him, black) humor for two years, and almost three months, as did all of us close to him

So as well as being a celebration of the best wedding ever (this is no time to be objective), and a tribute to the love and involvement of so many family and friends, this site is also a memorial to Craig (my best friend and soul mate) and of our time together, which was far too short.

Craig set up the site, and I have managed (more or less) to learn how to take over the controls of it, in order to keep it going, and to add a section about our life together whilst battling cancer.  The Updates page is made up from a series of edited emails which were sent out to family and friends to keep them informed of how Craig was doing.  It actually reads more like a diary now that tells our story from the wedding in January 2008 to Craig’s death in April 2010 and a little beyond.  Although most of you have already read these emails in bits and pieces over time, it was important to me (as well as therapeutic) to put it all down as a single story.  Alongside the story are some photos taken throughout our journey together.   In order to access this part of the site (the Updates page) you will need a username and password the first time you view it, which I can supply you with.

The engagement and wedding photos are left as Craig arranged them.  The joy of loving Craig and being loved by him has been well worth the journey.  Having known such joy helps me navigate my way through the waves of grief and tears that have been with me since then.

Love,

Melissa
